One of the secrets to finding more free time in your day is to create space - physical space and head space! Start with when you eat dinner. Eating dinner before the sun goes down fits in with how your body was designed to function best. Ayurveda teaches us to design a daily routine for ourselves based on natural principles called Dinacharya.
My family benefits when I follow Ayurvedic Dinacharya, especially eating early lighter dinners. It's a key habit for us and so much rolls on from there. Me eating early sometimes means we don't all eat together. Yet I find I'm more available for the later eaters because I'm relaxed with dishes done after a one pot meal and the whole evening is available to enjoy in connection and winding down from the day.
Having dinner before dark leads gracefully into earlier to bed and waking without stiffness or a groggy head. When you eat dinner earlier, you naturally detox overnight while you sleep. You wake ready to eliminate the Ama and start a whole new day! We're primates. We're designed to eat in the day light when our bile (digestive enzymes) are optimal.
Early dinners hasn't always been that way around here. My first job was as a shift working Auditor, I was a night owl. I wanted to experience the solace of night. There's no doubt the moon's energy is amazing. As my body refined with age and wisdom from living an Ayurvedic lifestyle, I've shifted into early lighter dinners and delight in the solace of the mornings because I go to bed earlier. The way we align with other members of the household has a huge impact on our individual choices. When the kids were small we'd eat early together but I stayed up late out of habit and seeking time out. Late nights, even after eating early, have a negative roll on effect the next morning when you'll wake heavy. Understanding the principles is one thing, yet to experience the effects of feeling more energy and clear headed you have to try them out for yourself for a few days. Notice the difference and choose your way ahead.
I can't honestly say 'I'm a morning person' but I can say 'I'm an awake person'. I live atuned to natural rhythms and know how to tap into a source of energy whenever I need or want to. It's a way of living I teach in Space to Heal Cleanse and Time to Flourish complete health programs.
You have so much more control over finding more time and getting more energy than you might realise..
You may not need MORE food or sleep as much as you need to change when you eat and rest! You're looking for the best time, according to how your body was designed to work best. The aim is to wisely use the time and energy you already have first and it usually leads to better decisions which create more abundance in so many areas of your life.
It can take months to automate your daily routine and a year to get the household aligned! Remember you're continually growing and refining..it gets better day after day after day.
