Jess is the Business Relations manager at Ayur Botanicals and is taking a two-month holiday in Spain (and surrounds). Find out how Ayurveda is seeing her well in her travels here on the blog every fortnight.
I have been waiting for this Spain trip ever since I was 12 years old. I had just seen my first ever flamenco concert and absolutely fell in love. And now that I am here, I have realised the great benefits of following a dream. I am utterly blissed out (apart from the lack of sleep and tummy that doesn’t really understand what time it is!) and I feel very content in the knowledge that I have reached a goal.
How to Harness the Seasonal Energy for a Wholesome Detox, with Denise Weatherhog - Space to Heal Cleanse Mentor
Our Space to Heal Cleanse is now in full swing. We're preparing our meal plans, heading to our local fruit and veg shop to stock up on delicious life-giving plant based foods and cleaning and clearing our homes of the things that don't serve us well (like that leftover chocolate from easter!!!).
We're delighted that our community is continually growing with people from all walks of life and an amazing bank of health knowledge and experience. We're thrilled to introduce Denise Weatherhog, who has worked in hospital management, is a yoga teacher, parent educator and librarian. She is an experienced detoxer who has dealt with illness while caring for others, and is here to help and support the group as they move through the Space to Heal Cleanse. We asked her: "How do you approach Cleanse time?" She responded with ease and knew exactly what to say. Read below...
With the seasonal cleanse commencing on 7 April, my thoughts are turning towards how I want to approach this cleanse. I have been doing a seasonal cleanse with Lesley for some time now and whilst recently talking to her I started to reflect on my journey so far. The first few times where quite a challenge for me. In fact I am sure I went through the 5 stages of grief. You know – “what cleanse?” followed by “why did I say I would do this?” followed by “but can I still have some chocolate?” then “can I finish now?” until finally “that was actually good and I feel well and energised”.
For the beginner, it can feel overwhelming if you are looking to change a lifetime of habits in one cleanse. Like everything in life, rewards come with practice, patience and consistency. Start small, be realistic about your goals and where you are in your life now. There is no “failure” in a cleanse. There are some great lessons however.
One of the most important things to sustain me through a cleanse, was the support offered by Lesley. This support grows with every cleanse – the Library, the strategy calls, podcasts, this blog, and it is evolving even further with Lesley inviting me to be a mentor for the upcoming cleanse. I am excited to participate in this capacity and look forward to serving you during the cleanse.
The Space to heal Cleanse is held twice a year in Spring and Autumn. Join us next time and feel clearer, lighter and healthier!
